Day Tour From Yerevan Saghmossavank, Amberd & Gyumri
First, visit Saghmossavank Monastery located at the gorge of the Kasakh river and the 7th century medieval fortress Amberd which is located on the slopes of Mount Aragats. The site had been inhabited by the Urartians in the ancient times, but the medieval fortress was constructed as a defense against invading Arab armies in the 7th and 8th AD.
Next stop is Gyumri – the second largest city in Armenia, it is home to many historic museums of Armenia such as Dzitoghtsyan Museum of Social Life and National Architecture. The latter is an old House Museum, containing collections of both history and the everyday-life of the city, as well as paintings and other works of art. The Cathedral of the Holy Mother of God of Gyumri is a 19th-century church, known as the Cathedral of the Seven Wounds of the Holy Mother of God. Return to Yerevan at the end of the day tour.
