The fortress complex of Birtvisi is located in the gorge of the river Algeti, in Kvemo Kartli. Birtvisi fortress stands witness to the great history of Georgia. In it’s time, the fortress was considered to be impenetrable as it is located in a naturally inaccessible place.

All necessary places are covered with a wall and organized for protection. In addition to defensive structures, residential and agricultural buildings and also reservoirs are also visible among the ruins of the fortress.
